The Carriage House was built in 1925 to store carriages for the large Victorian home, across the street. Once carriages became a thing of the past, part of the carriage house was converted to a one bedroom apartment that has direct water views and a private deck overlooking the water. There are two queen beds in the bedroom and a pull out twin bed in the living room. Enjoy the 585 feet of shared lake frontage with beach and complimentary use of canoes, kayaks, standup paddle boards and fire pits. Walk 0.5 miles to the Squamside Beach Bar or Walter's Basin restaurant. Only 200 yards away is The Ice House Creamery with home made ice cream. See bears, bobcats and mountain lions 1 mile away at the Squam Lakes Science Center. Enjoy all that Squam Lake has to offer! This rental shares the 2.3 acres and 585 feet of lake frontage with other cabins and suites on the property. The outside common areas include a beautiful sandy beach, fire pits, bbq grills and outdoor activities. Guests are asked to clean the dishes and take out the trash prior to departure. This rental does not accept pets. If you do want your pet to join you on your vacation, please look at our pet friendly rentals, which are suites 1, 3, 4, 9 and 12. Keycode locks allow guests to check in at their convenience. The code will be sent to the guests prior to arrival. Smoking is only permitted on the property at the designated smoking areas near the parking lot. Guests are welcome to use the rental, the deck and the entire 2.3 acres of the property, including the beach, swim raft, canoes, kayaks and paddle boards. Please do not enter the barn, garages or the docks marked as private. Please message your host via the app for communication. There is poor cell phone reception throughout the town of Holderness. When arriving, please connect to our Wifi which is called "The Boulders" Guest making reservation must be at least 25 years old.

July 2024 4.00Place is kinda run down and out of date. Hard time getting in. (Outside door was locked) managed to figure out a way around to get in after no call back. Wasps all over the place out back on the deck. They are nesting in the patio furniture. Had to buy wasp spray in town. Lake is amazing so the location is 100%. Over all its overpriced but we made the most of our time at the amazing little squam lake.

June 2024 3.00The location for this apartment is great. The lake access and fire pits are perfect and Squam Lake is picture perfect. The problem is that the unit doesn't live up to the location. The unit itself was realy not great; tons of dust under the bed which made my wife's allergies act up. The bathroom towels were comically small and rough. There was paint chipped off on the door. The deck needs to be sanded and restained. There were loud neighbors and everywhere you look something needs to be fixed. It's a rustic place, but for the price it's not worth it.
